Weltladen Bern

Switzerland is not an island. More than half of our consumer goods are imported from abroad. This means that we also have it in our hands to support and promote sustainable development in other countries. Weltläden are pioneers when it comes to fair working conditions and fair production in the Global South. Meanwhile, we also find Fair Trade certified products on the shelves of supermarkets.

Since its inception, Fair Trade has focused on social, economic and ecological sustainability. Producers receive a stable income, and organic and low-CO2 production is emphasised in the production process.

The city of Bern supports fair trade and was awarded the status of Fair Trade Town by the Swiss Fair Trade Association in 2017.
